Successful Commencement of the CUET UG 2023 Exam
The CUET-UG Phase one exam commenced on Sunday and is being conducted across 271 cities and over 447 centers from May 21 to 25. The examination is divided into three shifts. In shift 1, a total of 87,879 candidates appeared, while in shift 2, 87,903 students took the exam. The third shift, organized in 458 centers, witnessed the participation of 89,466 students.
Improved Attendance and Successful Execution
The UGC chairman, Professor M. Jagadesh Kumar, highlighted that the first day of the CUET-UG exam saw an impressive attendance of 76 percent, showcasing a significant increase compared to last year’s attendance rate of around 62 percent.
Minor Delays and Measures Taken
In a few centers (approximately 12 out of 450), the exam started later than the scheduled time but was successfully completed. The delay was primarily caused by reasons such as power fluctuations in some centers and students following staggered entry protocols.
To address this issue, the UGC informed students in their admit cards to arrive at the examination centers in a staggered manner. However, in some centers, students arrived late, resulting in crowding and subsequent delays in starting the exam. The UGC requests future candidates to follow staggered entry instructions to avoid such situations. Administrative measures have been implemented to prevent similar delays in the future, and cooperation with traffic police has been sought to minimize traffic congestion around the centers.
