JKBOSE to Skip Practical Exam for Class 10, Read Details Here

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has recently announced that it will not be holding practical exams for Class 10 students. Instead, BOSE will rely on the internal tests conducted by schools during the academic session. According to Lal Hussain, Joint Secretary, Examination, BOSE, the schools will forward the 20 marks internal results, which is already a set procedure.
However, BOSE will hold external practical exams for Class 11 and 12 students. The decision to skip practical exams for Class 10 students comes after the Jammu and Kashmir government decided to provisionally promote them to the next class in a bid to avoid academic loss. As per the “Uniform Academic calendar,” students who appear in Class 10 and 11 exams shall be provisionally admitted to Class 11th and 12th, respectively, after the conclusion of the board exam.

The Class X exam in soft zones of Kashmir concluded on Wednesday, and more than 63,500 students appeared for the matriculation exam. The exam for Class 10 in hard zones started from April 8. Hard zones are those areas that are snowbound and not reachable. Since access to the area was difficult during March, the government decided to hold their exam separately.
Following the board’s decision, the admission process to the next classes has begun in Kashmir, with several schools already issuing admission forms to students. Private schools have also completed the admission process. This decision by BOSE is expected to provide some relief to students as they can avoid additional stress and focus on their regular studies.
